Chuck & Albert - The 2009 Easter Seals Telethon
2/24/2009
Chuck & Albert If you’ve already marked the date and time on your calendar, be sure to note the new broadcast time for the 2009 EASTER SEALS TELETHON. It is now scheduled to air from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 1 instead of the previously announced start time of 2:00 p.m. The three-hour show airs live from the Confederation Centre of the Arts. Islanders are invited to tune in for all the excitement, featuring hosts Bruce and Matt Rainnie and the 2009 PEI Easter Seals Ambassador, ten-year-old Jordon Cotton of Alberton. The early evening timeslot on Sunday presents a great opportunity for families to sit down together, enjoy local talent, and watch the live event.

Families are welcome to contact the Confederation Centre Box Office and reserve free tickets to sit in the studio audience. “Members of the audience get a glimpse of what goes on behind the scenes, plus experience the live performances of some extremely talented musicians,” says CBC’s telethon producer Claire Nantes. “With the impressive calibre of entertainment, it’s guaranteed to be an excellent show.” It will be an exciting time for everyone as business owners, community groups, students, and individuals come to the stage to present their donations to the annual PEI Easter Seals campaign.

Chuck & Albert will be on hand to share their musical talents and help raise money for this year’s PEI Easter Seals campaign along with fellow Island performers including:

• Paper Lions (formerly known as Chucky Danger Band)
• Fiddler JJ Chaisson and friends
• Stan Carew, host of CBC Radio One’s WEEKEND MORNINGS
• Pop singer Catherine MacLellan
• The Dan Currie Band
• Folk singer Kris Taylor
• Saddle River String Band
• Performers from the College of Piping and Celtic Performing Arts of Canada
• UPEI Choral Emsemble
• Classical pianist Kathyrn Ledwell
• Wayne Dunsford and friends (house band)

Television viewers will be able to call in their pledges on a toll-free line, staffed by volunteers at Aliant. Staff members from Confederation Centre of the Arts, Eastlink and CBC volunteer their time for this three-hour broadcast. For those in the studio audience, Rotary members will be accepting donations in the theatre lobby. Money raised helps the Prince Edward Island Easter Seals Society provide equipment and programs for people with disabilities in this province.
