The PEI Museum and Heritage Foundation will hold its annual Heritage Awards ceremony on February 16th, also known as Heritage Day, at Beaconsfield Historic House in Charlottetown. The awards recognize outstanding achievements and contributions to heritage on Prince Edward Island and this year, Chuck & Albert will be presented with the 2008 Wendell Boyle Award.
Awarded to a group or individual for an outstanding contribution in a performance medium that highlights or interprets the history of Prince Edward Island., this year’s recipients couldn’t be more proud. « Wow, what an honour! » said Chuck upon receiving the news. « We work hard to celebrate the richness of our PEI Acadian traditions through the songs, dances and sense of humour we present each and every show. We couldn’t be prouder to be accorded this award! »
The PEI Museum and Heritage Foundation recognizes individuals and groups that have made outstanding contributions to the knowledge and understanding of any aspect of the heritage of Prince Edward Island. Heritage includes but is not limited to tangible, intangible and natural history. It encompasses architectural preservation, folklore, culture, archives, archaeology, genealogy and history in all of its forms. These awards will recognize an original and important contribution to the preservation or interpretation of a significant aspect of the heritage of Prince Edward Island. The Ceremony will take place at 7 PM at Beaconsfield Historic House, 2 Kent Street, Charlottetown.
