This Spring, Chuck & Albert will make their first appearance south of the border and return to Québec for their second tour in a year as the 2008 festival season starts to heat up. After a highly successful first visit to venues in the Gaspé, the dynamic duo will be touring theatres in Montréal, Québec, Gatineau and Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean as part of a promotional tour commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Deportation of the Acadians from PEI. "We're pretty honored to be a part of these Quebec performances, " said Chuck in an interview recently. "The chance to represent the PEI Acadians and show how other Acadian communities have evolved is pretty special. We'll also be doing this tour with historian Georges Arsenault who has been such a big influence on our careers so this is a double treat for us!"
The tour is being organised through St. Thomas - D'Acquin Society, the Fédération acadienne du Québec and their partner organisations throughout Quebec. The SSTA is a PEI organisation that advocates on behalf of the Acadian and Francophone communities and provides education and promotion of the Islands' rich cultural heritage.
Later in June, Chuck & Albert will travel to New York to play the Old Songs Festival, a family-friendly festival of folk, traditional, Celtic and world music and dance, known for its relaxed atmosphere, interactive sessions and workshops, hands-on experience and participatory nature. Chuck & Albert are very familiar with this event currently celebrating its 28th year. "We had the chance to go there a few times with Barachois, so we have a pretty good idea what to expect. Andy (the festival organiser) and the volunteers are great and the crowds there are so appreciative and fun to be around", says Albert. "We've got some new music that we've been working on. Hopefully we'll be ready to premiere some of it there!"
